Delivery of Fargo Jet cloud seeding aircraft, proof of strong U.S.-Romania strategic partnership (ambassador)
The delivery to Romania by North Dakota-based Fargo Jet of the first precipitation enhancement aircraft is yet another example of the strategic partnership between the United States of America and Romania, as well as of the two countries' ever growing bilateral trade and investment relationship, U.S. ambassador in Bucharest Kathleen Kavalec said on Friday, as she opened the event that marked the commissioning of Romania's first cloud seeding airplane, delivered by Fargo Jet and purchased by the Active Atmospheric Intervention (IAA) company.
Kavalec said that this is an exceptional moment for Romania's aviation, which showcases the power of innovation in supporting the development of Romanian agriculture, and which also opens a new chapter in the fight against climate change, aimed at protecting one of Romania's most important resources, the farming community. The diplomat went on to note that the aircraft will contribute to increasing precipitation, protecting produce against hailstorms, saving crops from devastating drought in agricultural areas without access to irrigation, but also helping shield agriculture from climate change.
The U.S. ambassador congratulated Fargo Jet and its sister company, Weather Modification International (WMI), for the work put in in order to bring this extremely important aircraft type to this region, noting that Fargo Jet and WMI thus demonstrate real commitment. The diplomat also voiced hopes that the delivery will be just one of many proofs of American support to Romanian farmers in the vital agricultural sector.
I want to emphasize how much we appreciate Romania's choice of this American solution. The Romanian government has been a long-time supporter of American aerospace technologies, she said, also referencing the Fargo Jet Learjet 75 air ambulance aircraft delivered last year to the Romanian Ministry of the Interior.
A year ago, I was at the Baneasa Airport to celebrate the delivery of the Fargo Jet air ambulance aircraft to the Romanian Ministry of the Interior, it is clear that Fargo Jet aircraft represent a standard of excellence for Romania's aircraft needs. I therefore want to congratulate again Fargo Jet and IAA for this important partnership. Through innovation and strategic foresight, we are laying the foundations for a better aerospace cooperation and support sustainable agricultural development in a climate change resistant future, the diplomat said.
In his turn, Fargo Jet Center president James Sweeney emphasized the importance of the partnership of the company he represents with IAA for bringing the "best technology" to the region, specifically the first cloud seeding plane.
Our cooperation with the local company IAA will improve their work and will bring anti-hail aircraft to the country to protect crops and increase agricultural output. It is such an important step, and we are confident that this is only the beginning of what we will achieve in the future, said Sweeney, adding that the two sister companies, Fargo Jet Center and Weather Modification International, are also looking forward to share in Romania their globally accumulated knowledge.
