Madrigal Choir on tour in Chisinau November 12 to 15

The "Madrigal - Marin Constantin" National Chamber Choir, conducted by Anna Ungureanu, will perform in the Republic of Moldova, in Chisinau, from November 12 to 15, as part of the "European Dream" Tour.

According to a press release sent to AGERPRES on Thursday, the tour marks Romania's National Day in advance and celebrates the relations between the two countries in the European context.

"2024 is a year full of profound significance for the cultural relationship between Romania and the Republic of Moldova. We are celebrating together the Day of Romanian Culture, the Union of the Principalities, the Day of the Union of Bessarabia with Romania, the Day of the Romanian Language, and, last but not least, Romania's National Day. Each of these moments represents an opportunity to strengthen and celebrate our shared heritage. The Madrigal Choir concerts in Chisinau are more than just events. Through them, we weave that fine fabric of values, beliefs, and sensitivities that define us as a people," said Romanian Cultural Institute (ICS) President Liviu Jicman.

The Extraordinary Concert "Madrigal: The European Dream" will take place on November 13, at 19:00, at the Sala cu Orga in Chisinau, marking Romania's National Day in advance, celebrated annually on December 1. At the event, the "Madrigal - Marin Constantin" National Chamber Choir, conducted by Anna Ungureanu, will be joined by the National Chamber Choir of the Sala cu Orga, conducted by Ilona Stepan, who will perform the national anthems of both countries - Romania and the Republic of Moldova. The concert programme includes emblematic works from the European Renaissance and contemporary choral music.

Access to the event is by invitation and subject to availability.

The next performance of the "Madrigal: The European Dream" concert will take place on November 14 at the Mihai Eminescu National Theatre in Chisinau, at 19:00. Additionally, during this event, the official launch in the Republic of Moldova of the comprehensive cultural diplomacy album "National Anthems of the EU Member States and the National Anthem of the Republic of Moldova" will take place.

The concert programme offers an extensive journey through Romanian folklore, from the ancient "Codex Caioni" arranged for choir by Constantin Ripa, to contemporary works, according to the source.

Access to the event is free, subject to available seating.

On November 12, the Madrigal choir will also organise auditions for candidates from the Republic of Moldova for the positions of lyric artists and assistant conductor.
