Future of energy solutions showcased at Energy Expo 2024
An experimental car or hydrogen-powered drones are among the exhibits on display at the inaugural edition of Energy Expo - a genuine gateway to an entire energy ecosystem, taking place between October 10 - 13 with more than 300 exhibitors at the Laminor Hall in Bucharest.
Five research institutes are featuring their energy projects at the event: the National Turbocombustion Engines Research and Development Institute (INCD COMOTI), the National Institute for Research and Development in Construction, Urban Planning and Sustainable Urban Territorial Development (INCERC), the 'Elie Carafoli' National Institute for Aerospace Research and Development (INCAS), the 'Horia Hulubei' National Research & Development Institute for Nuclear Physics and Engineering (IFIN-HH), and the National Research & Development Institute for Cryogenic and Isotopic Technologies (ICSI) in Ramnicu Valcea.
The exhibits of the research institutes include an experimental hydrogen powered jeep, a wind turbine model, a mockup of building thermal insulation solutions and air permeability reduction solutions, UAV systems intended for missions and applications, a hydrogen-powered drone, Li-Ion battery samples, a high-power laser model (exemplifying the small-scale image of the ELI-NP laser room), 3D goggles connected to a computer and an IT unit whereby visitors can take a virtual tour of the ELI-NP experimental facility (experimental rooms, laboratories, clean rooms).
The prototype of the experimental hydrogen-powered all-terrain vehicle was built at the Research Institute for Isotopic Technologies in Ramnicu Valcea and, according to the builders, it has zero pollution. The only impediment for this type of vehicle is that there are currently no hydrogen charging stations for cars in Romania.
Also in the spotlight at the EV Show 2024 is Cyberbeast, the first cybertruck in Romania, equipped with three electric engines with a combined output of 845 HP, which propel the vehicle from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds. With a torque of 13,959 Nm and weighing 3.1 tons, the Cyberbeast can tow a load of five tons.
The event is organized with the support of the Prime Minister's Chancellery, the Energy Ministry, the Ministry of the Environment, Waters and Forestry, the Ministry of European Investments and Projects, the Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Transformation, the Sector 3 Mayor's Office, as well as with relevant organizations in the industry.
The exhibits are representative for all types of energy, respectively all segments of the energy market, from photovoltaic and solar thermal systems, engineering, procurement and construction, onshore & offshore wind and energy storage systems to solutions for industrial control and automation, infrastructure and technologies (smart grids, data center solutions, etc.), smart cities and buildings, as well as energy efficiency, AI & digitization, or clean fuels (biogas, bioethanol, LNG, CNG).
