Romania's Foreign Minister Luminita Odobescu has underlined the importance of constant international support for Ukraine and highlighted Romania's support for the peace formula put forth by President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, the only framework that can lead to a just and lasting peace, according to the Romanian Foreign Ministry (MAE).

Odobescu, who was in the official retinue led by President Klaus Iohannis, at the opening of the high-level segment of the 79th session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly, also showed that Romania provides support and will continue to stand by Moldova, whose stability is crucial to the entire region.

She also had a bilateral meeting with her Omani counterpart Sayyid Badr Albusaidi. The interest of the parties in diversifying and strengthening bilateral relations, trade exchanges and encouraging investment and tourism was reconfirmed. There was also an exchange of views on the regional affairs of interest, with a focus on the worrying developments in the Middle East, and the situation in Ukraine.

The head of Romanian diplomacy also participated in a transatlantic dinner hosted by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, where she reiterated the importance of transatlantic unity to managing global challenges. She stressed the need for a coordinated transatlantic approach in the Black Sea region, supporting Ukraine and supporting Moldova in combating Moscow's hybrid tactics. At the same time, she reiterated Romania's support for strengthening cooperation between the transatlantic community and the like-minded partners in the Indo-Pacific.

Part of her official actions, Odobescu had a meeting with family members of a hostage of Romanian origins in the Gaza Strip, where she reiterated Romania's commitment and the constant support of the Romanian authorities in supporting the efforts to free the hostages.
